We met Betsy through my birth teacher. My husband and I had read and heard about the benefits of using a doula, so when we found Betsy we were very excited.  When I met Betsy for the first time I felt very comfortable with her. She listened intently to what I wanted when I was to give birth. She is such a happy, confident person and I know during my labor she put out that energy and I felt more calm and reassured and so did my husband. I had the best natural, non-interventive delivery, it was fun. I definitely think that if Betsy was not there to push on my back in the right place and tell me when and how to breathe amongst other things, my labor most likely could have been longer. She was amazing and helped my husband and I have an amazing experience. I would highly recommend having a doula assist in the birth of a child but I will especially recommend Betsy Woods doula extraordinaire.

We were instantly at ease with Betsy at our first meeting two months prior to Charlotte’s arrival.  We felt comfortable sharing our thoughts and hopes for our birth and she responded in a very warm and open-minded style.  By the end of our meeting we were both sure we wanted her to be part of our labor and delivery.

We ended up having a very long, 44 hour labor and Betsy’s presence was calming and nurturing (for both mom and coach).  While the Labor & Delivery Nurse only checked in periodically, Betsy was there the whole time, and could predict and care for our needs in an immediate way.  Her understanding of the physical and emotional aspects of the experience allowed her to be both a resource and a reassuring voice.  She was also well prepared with nutrition, water, massage implements, and many other items from her “goody bag”.

We tried everything we could to have a natural childbirth and Betsy was there supporting us the entire way.  While the end result was a caesarian section, Betsy reminded us of our birthing plan as long as possible.  Once we left the go to the Operating room she took the time to stay with our mothers to explain the process and reassure them.

She also did a great job capturing the experience on paper for our birth story.  There are so many precious details of the day that we would not have remembered if she hadn’t taken note of them. 

Betsy is a thoughtful and caring Doula, and a wonderful woman.  We recommend her completely.

Betsy was a wonderful doula at the birth of our third child.  We weren’t prepared to go through such a long and hard labor (especially being our third!) I had an epidural in place, and became discouraged when the baby wouldn’t come down, and I couldn’t stand or rock like I wanted in order to try to get her down.  Betsy was a lifesaver in that she suggested positions for me to try while in the hospital bed, which ultimately brought the baby down and, in my opinion, definitely prevented me from having a c-section. 
My husband and I were grateful to have her at the birth of our daughter!

Betsy provided a warm and loving environment for the birth of my second child.  During my labor at home, she helped by gently suggesting different positions and activities to make my labor more comfortable and effective.  Her knowledge of childbirth coupled with her calming presence made my labor more manageable.  At the hospital, Betsy's encouragement and support were invaluable to both me and my husband.  Since she was there to take care of both of us, my husband was able to be an even better coach and partner for me.  I highly recommend Betsy's nurturing and knowledgeable doula services.
